The Department of Visual and Media Arts at Emerson College seeks to fill a tenure-track position in Cinematography. Appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor. A terminal degree (M.F.A. or Ph.D.) in cinematography, filmmaking or a related field is preferred, but candidates with significant professional experience as a director of photography will also be considered. Candidates are expected to have a record of professional achievement as cinematographer or director of photography on projects originating on film and as well as on video and are expected to maintain a strong record of achievement in the field of cinematography while teaching at the College. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellent teaching, preferably at the college level. The successful candidate will teach courses in basic and advanced cinematography within a curriculum that addresses a variety of filmmaking modes and methods, including narrative, documentary, and experimental. The appointment begins September 1, 2009.
