Multimedia Producer - NPR
Improve overall quality, selection and presentation of multimedia on NPR.org. Produce visually compelling presentations using multiple media. Collaborate with staff to edit audio and video, create galleries and slideshows, and produce flash-based interactives.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in photojournalism, design, photography, multimedia or a related field.
REQUIRED: Familiarity with a variety of computer systems and software applications, including PhotoShop, Final Cut and Flash. At least five years’ experience as a multimedia producer for news Web sites. Ability to adapt to changes in equipment, software and workflow. Demonstrated excellence as a visual storyteller. Demonstrated expertise in digital image and video photography and editing. Excellence in written and oral communication skills. A teamwork mentality, flexibility and a sense of humor. Proven ability to consistently work well with others, demonstrating at all times respect for the diverse constituencies at NPR and within the public radio system. Understanding of journalistic ethics. Experience maintaining high journalistic standards under deadline pressure, including standards f objectivity, balance and fairness. Ability to handle multiple and complex projects simultaneously under stringent timeframes and changing priorities/conditions. Ability to work quickly and efficiently under deadline pressure. Incumbent must be able to report breaking stories for both newscasts and major programs. Ability and willingness to work varied shifts. Ability to relocate. In the future, NPR may choose to transfer employees to other geographic locations. Severance provisions of the AFTRA collective bargaining agreement will apply should you choose not to accept a transfer.
PREFERRED: Experience producing on digital audio workstations.
