Multimedia Editor - ESPN
Scope of Responsibility
This position will help to ensure that ESPN Communications Dept. stays on the cutting edge of multimedia technology and will routinely be engaged in pushing this technology forward.
The successful candidate will be responsible for proactively obtaining, editing, and distributing video and audio content for use by the ESPN Communications Dept. and external media to support ESPN Publicity efforts promoting ESPN programming and services.
Job Responsibilities
• Developing new concepts and methods to maximize the use of multimedia technology in the evolving media landscape
• Daily identification of newsworthy items
• Assisting Communications Department staff with audio and video needs
• Creating and maintaining multimedia collections on ESPN’s MediaZone as well as other related distribution websites.
Essential Functions
• Works with publicists to generate compelling multimedia content to support and enhance publicity efforts
• Routinely distributes multimedia content with tight deadlines
• Works with production groups to quickly obtain content.
• Stays abreast of fast-changing multimedia distribution tools and techniques
• Ensures that multimedia libraries adhere to ESPN’s quality standards and remain up to date.
• Performs occasional weekend and weeknight on-call duties.
• Converts multimedia from assorted sources to compressed web format.
Required Qualifications
This position requires a demonstrated ability to be self motivated, and work independently to proactively acquire and deliver multimedia content to promote ESPN content.
• Ability to identify newsworthy stories and proactively acquire multimedia content to support related publicity efforts.
• Expert level skills with prominent Mac based audio and video editing tools
• A passion for creating practical and effective uses for new technology.
• A comprehensive knowledge of sports and the media industry is essential.
• Ability to handle high-volume workload with quick turnaround and tight deadlines
• A comprehensive understanding of a/v content, and technical quality
• 2-3 years experience in a multimedia production environment.
• Proficiency with both Windows and Apple computers
• The ability to develop efficient multimedia workflows
• Ability to identify priorities and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced digital workflow environment
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Established organizational skills, attention to detail, and an inner passion for doing great work.
• Quantel experience is preferred
