Content Producer (video) - Discovery Channel Networks
Position Summary:
The main focus of the role will be working on the creation and development of Video-Based projects, though not exclusively, and a firm knowledge of how video and all forms of Digital content relate is essential. Working closely with the US (DCL) and INTL (DNI) Video and Digital Production teams create and deploy compelling content onto International Discovery sites. With a team of Preditors (Producer/Editors) around the world, management of multiple resources and projects will be required. A key part of the role will be to build strong relationships with both US and INTL teams to facilitate the provisioning of US content, but also with external production companies and agencies in the creation of new and original content. Efforts will contribute to the achievement of traffic and usage targets.

Responsibilities:
1.Commission, create and deploy Video content and related Digital content that celebrates and extends Discovery’s unique programming and excites its users .
2.Play a central role in the planning and provisioning of US DCL Video content and the processes for supply to INTL digital teams.
3.Delivering new and creative ideas and treatments that show forward thinking, a strong understanding of current and future trends, and that capture users attention.
4.Help manage an INTL team of Preditors to ensure efficient production of Video projects that provide maximum value to INTL Digital teams.
5.Briefing 3rd party suppliers and production companies on creative, technical and commercial considerations.
6.Work with the Manager, Content Syndication, to supply content that fulfils deals as well as driving users and engagement.
7.Work with Preditors, Producers and technical support teams to ensure deployment of projects/content happens in a timely fashion
8.Monitor all aspects Video across the sites and related reports to ensure the highest service levels for users.
9.Ensure all projects are delivered on time and within budget.
10.Ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards possible and are aligned with Discovery design and editorial guidelines.
Requirements:
* Proven track record in delivery of content (particularly video) in the Digital Media space.
* Proven track record in planning / commissioning process & budgeting
* Strong understanding of online video applications, usage and their development
* Understanding of the impact of commercial imperatives on production and programming
* International and/or broadcast experience beneficial
* Experience of working with Editorial and Production Management teams, as well as external Production companies.
* High level of Editorial judgment
* Proven track record of managing multiple projects, with multiple stakeholders
* Experience of working in a matrix framework
* Understanding of both television and digital media technologies (web, iTV, broadband and mobile)
* Understanding of systems involved in production of Digital content and Video: Online Video Applications (Brightcove), FinalCut Pro, Encoding software, Microsoft Office, CMS applications.
* Understanding of rights & clearances issues
*Must have the legal right to work in the United States
